Arts Education

The arts inspire students to investigate the inter-relatedness of academic subjects; develop individual creativity; learn problem solving skills; and understand varied cultures. The arts help teach other subjects; represent a holistic approach to learning; promote self-discipline and self-reliance; develop students' internal standards and sense of quality and excellence. The arts create the courage and capacity to make subjective judgments; encourage the examination of divergent viewpoints; teach presentation skills; offer lifetime skills for expression; and pass on our collective cultural experience.

Therefore, we believe there should be a program committed to sharing and teaching the skills, techniques and love of the arts to students - a program that establishes a climate for creative learning where self-expression is encouraged within all the academic disciplines and is now supported by all the arts; visual, performing and literary. We have the capacity to implement this now.
